Dear Johanna,

Is it Spring yet? It certainly is here in Southern California. My yard smells like Wisteria and Orange Blossoms. Just the inspiration needed to get in the mood for Spring.

In the spirit of Spring Cleaning, we did a little housekeeping in the gallery section of the web site. You'll see that each design team member has her own gallery, and you can easily access the galleries of your favorite previous designers. Gallery content is updated almost weekly, so make sure you check back often.

It was fantastic to have the chance to meet so many of you at the Del Mar Rubber Stamp & Scrapbook Expo recently. It was our first convention. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to visit our booth and to all the volunteers who helped make the show a success.

Just Hatched!

chicklet We released about 100 new images at the Del Mar convention. Thanks to a collaboration with Emily Gunnell, there are over 30 new chicklets dressed in all sorts of adorable little hats and whatnot. Thanks to Cathrine St. Clair, there's a whole series of floral garlands that coordinate with the floral border and the existing floral flourishes. And thanks to Kim Frantz for sparking the idea for the new "aloha" critters and for giving Auntie Stu longer legs.

All of the new images have already been loaded into the shopping cart, which you can access by clicking the "shop" link on the justjohanna web site. Then just click on that cute little owl next to the word "new!" and you'll see the recently released images. All of the brand new images plus the ones from the January/February supplements are included in the new catalog.

Kim's bio
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each month, we'll be giving you the inside scoop from one of our design team members. This month's member spotlight is on... Kim Frantz.
Kim is the creative mind behind the sketches we've been featuring in our newsletters, and she posts them weekly on her blog. What a great resource!
Kim joined the team towards the end of 2006, but it feels like she's been there all along. She's always full of ideas and enthusiasm. We asked her just a handful of questions so you all could get to know her a little bit more...
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself (your family, where you’re from).
I have been involved with art most of my life - from needle crafts, to photography, to pottery and printmaking...I have experimented with all kinds of mediums. I have a BFA with a concentration in Photography. It was in college that I met my husband (of almost 9 years.) We share our home with 2 adorable cats. Our home town (in south eastern PA) is filled with Amish buggies and small country roads, star-filled skies at night, and friendly neighbors walking during the day. When I am not creating I love to read, watch movies from the 1950's, and hang out with my husband.
2. How did you get started stamping?
For the past 10 years scrapbooking, card making, and paper arts have been a major force in my creativity. I decided to incorporate stamps for 2 reasons: (1) I love the tactile nature of the stamps themselves and (2) carving my own stamps allowed me to add customized images to my projects. I also like the look of ink on paper...the sometimes imperfect lines and the ability to place an image anywhere. I now have a large collection of premade and hand-carved stamps in my stash.
3. What is your favorite justjohanna stamp?
I am partial to all of the critters, but if I have to choose one, it would be Big Al. It was love at first sight! He looks right at home on a tree branch or perched on top of some hand-cut flowers.
4. What inspires you?
Artistic people inspire me. Getting together with other like-minded friends, chatting, working on art, and just sharing stories really inspires me to create and think bigger. On the flip-side, being alone also inspires me because I thrive on quiet. In this environment, I can write poems, brainstorm new ideas, and think about current projects in new ways. Having a balance of both situations in my life helps keep the creativity flowing.
Card Sketch & Contest!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
march sketch We'll be sending you updates monthly (for the most part) to let you know about all the new & exciting things happening with our product line. And every month, the newsletter will include a card sketch and some sample cards to jump start your creativity.

Just to make it extra-fun this month, and to encourage you to participate... use your justjohanna stamps to make a card following this sketch, post a link to it (in an online gallery or on your own blog) on my blog during the month of April, and we'll pick one winner & award a $25 credit you will be able to use in our online shopping cart..

Thanks to Cathrine St. Clair, Jennifer Woodward, Claudette Slowik, and Michelle Guray for the samples shown here.
