Boutique Grand Opening!

Thanks to everyone who dropped by last month when we were setting up. It was great to meet so many of you!

Our grand opening will be on this Saturday, March 8, 2008. Please come by and see us! We will be hosting a free make-n-take project.

The boutique will be open every 2nd Saturday from 6:00 to 11:00 PM, and you'll also be able to shop by appointment. Call 760-215-3059 to schedule a shopping appointment or a time to pick up an order you've placed online.

There's a bin of clearance stamps, and we'll have Spring gift baskets, other little bundles of stamp sets with cards you'll be able to purchase. You'll be able to see some amazing Design Team projects in person. There's also a table with chairs for you to sit and browse the catalog, work on a project, flip through card sample books for ideas, or just chit-chat.

317 E Grand Ave, Suite 9
Escondido, CA 92025

The boutique is at the top of the main gallery stairs inside Distinction Art Gallery.

This Saturday is also the opening night for the "Midnight Parade" show in the main gallery, featuring the work of surrealist artist Josh Clay. There will be drinks and music, and it's all free! All 14 artist studios will be open for you to wander through. The place is full of inspiration and creative energy.

Yes, there are some new stamps. We've just added about 100 new images to the justjohanna collection, including cooking/baking, mother's day, father's day, mushrooms, and some super-cute cows!

Center of Attention

Flowers are a popular embellishment these days. They are used to jazz up scrapbook layouts, to enhance home decor items, and to add extra flair to handmade greeting cards. One way to personalize your flowers is to decorate the centers with rubber stamps. Hundreds of looks can be created with just a few simple tools.

To create this look, you will need the following supplies:

White cardstock
Small ink pad
1-inch circle punch
Black pen
Your favorite justjohanna stamps
  1. To begin, use your punch to make a circle stencil from a piece of white cardstock.
  2. Lay this stencil overtop of another piece of white cardstock.
  3. Use your ink pad to lay down a light layer of ink inside the circle stencil.
  4. Keep the stencil in place and randomly stamp inside the circle once again.
  5. Use your circle punch to punch out your designs.
  6. Outline with a black pen to create some definition.
  7. Add each center to a flower of your choice.

Alternative ideas for this technique include using different colors of ink, stamping on different materials like glossy paper or transparencies, using different shapes for your stencil like a square or oval, or stamp with words for a fun way to add a sentiment to your card.

If you are looking for a new way to enhance your flowers, this technique is sure to make your next project the center of attention.
